More about Melbourne!
March 12th 2008 06:34
Hey guys, thanks for the comments, at least it has given me another idea what to write about!
By the way, to the comment about Melbourne sounding more interesting than Sydney, I don't know... I mean, I know that Melbourne is considered the 'cultural, diverse fashion' city of Australia, but Sydney sounds really appealing as well. That's where all the rich Australians live,
, where you have all those awesome boutiqes always featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Comso and Cleo. Oh, so many times I saw the 'it' list for the trendy/ unique shops dotting Sydney, featuring Alice McCall, Milk and Honey, Scanlan & Theodore and heaps of other coveted fashion labels.
However, as I have never even been there (I know, I know, lived in Australia for 12 years and haven't had a chance to visit our neighbouring city) I cannot speak negatively or positively about it, as I have only books and TV to base my opinion on.
But yeah, guys, if you ever come to good ol' Melbourne, make sure to visit Chapel Street, Bridge Road , Bourke Road and Melbourne Central, as well as Chadstone shopping centre and Knox for all the wonderful chain stores which provide the majority of us on the budget with great finds and imitations of the big brands. The Crown Casino Complex is a beautiful building, with many little restarants, cafes and bars reasonably priced, however the shopping is primarily for the people who can afford to spend just that leeetle bit (or a lot, actually) more. Then again, Collins Street in the CBD is also an awesome street for the prominant designer brands I tell myself everyday I will one day own. You know, the usuals, Chanel, Calvin Klein (and I'm not talking about the $150 tops you see near the high end chain stores), Loius Vuittion, Prada, Gucci.
After being an avid viewer of Sex and the City (I borrowed all of the episodes from my friend, and had a wonderful summer holiday. No, I am NOT a loser, I just happened to have a lot of spare time on my hands
) I have come to the point where I cannot wait to become a fashion journalist, or a lawyer or an owner of my own PR firm just so I can actually shop anywhere I want. Just thought I'd throw that in.
Anyway, I digress. This was meant to be an entry about the different cafes around Melbourne, and the hot spots rather that the quaint little boutiqes, but I had to go and run my mouth about what I want. However, enough of my promotions of Melbourne, even though, if I may say so myself, it is the MOST wonderful city in the world.
